The U.S. Army is presenting this Proposed Plan for the public to review and comment regarding the remedial approach proposed for site FTMM-53 at Fort Monmouth (FTMM). New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) is the state regulatory agency which administers the State’s Site Remediation Program. NJDEP, in consultation with the U.S. Army, will make the final selection of the response action for site FTMM-53 after consideration of public input.

The U.S. Army has prepared this Proposed Plan to present to the public the final remedial actions for FTMM-53, which is classified as a Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricant (POL) site. Remedial actions will include land use controls, a Classification Exception Area/Well Restriction Area to control exposure to fuel-related compounds in groundwater, and monitored natural attenuation. The Proposed Plan can be viewed at the link below. The U.S. Army will accept comments on the Proposed Plan during the public comment period of August 17, 2020 through September 17, 2020.
